I have an old friend who recently got in touch with myself, Grey and Chad. He was an old boyfriend from high school. Technically, he was my first real boyfriend and the first boy I ever slept with. So, for a myriad of reasons, he has been in prison for the last 8 years or so. He got into contact with Grey and I because he is getting out soon.
My thoughts on this range from hell yeah, we'll be there, to what type of commitment would this mean? Also, having not seen him for over 10 years when John and I were still together, I have no idea who he is now. Is he still the same guy who was loving and funny with some anger management issues, or is he completely different because of his life and what has happened to him? Most people who are in prison for over 4 years show symptoms of PTSD.
I have no idea.
My father spent time in prison so this is not a new scene, but the reality is grim. My father came out better for it. But he wasn't in there as long as my friend.
It's weird how things come back around. You think that people are gone for good and they pop back up years later. You are both different and then you try to relate with your new selves and your old selves. It's a funny world.
